How To Choose The Perfect Bridal Hair Accessory

The number one question I receive from brides is "What is the best hair accessory for my bridal hairstyle?" There are no hard and fast rules but there are some guidelines to follow that will help you choose the perfect hair accessory for your hairstyle. Following are some of the most popular styles with suggestions, but please remember you are always more than welcome to send me an email and I will personally answer all your questions:)

Hollywood Waves/ Hair Worn Down
This look has been on trend for the past two seasons and doesn't appear to be slowing down this year. A comb is an ideal choice to pull hair back to one side for an oh-so-glam look. Choose a hair comb that doesn't overwhelm your earrings or if you are going for a statement earring choose a smaller comb. We chose our "Heather" comb in Swarovski Crystal, pearl and clay florals for this look. Hair by Hair and Makeup by Robin. Photographer: Tara Whittaker

Another elegant look to keep your hair back from your face and add volume to the top of your style is to wear a headband or hairvine. We are currently obsessed with pearl headbands and love the chic minimalistic look they create. Again because we are seeing both the headband and earrings at the same angle consider the sizing of the headband next to your earrings, they shouldn't compete with each other. Low Bun
If you are looking for a romantic and versatile bridal hairstyle for your special day consider a low bun, it is the epitome of elegance and can be accessorized in many ways. Haven Beauty of Calgary created this exquisite updo and used our "Lilith" Swarovski Crystal and pearlized flower comb to complete the look. Hair by Haven Beauty. Photo: Keeley Joy Photography

If you are a destination bride or will not have the opportunity to do a bridal trial, a set of hairpins is a great option and will allow your stylist to try some different looks. The pins can be lined up in a row to look like a comb or scattered around an updo like this romantic bun from Hair By Jess of Edmonton. "Amelia" hairpins. Hair by Hair By Jess. Bridal Pony Tail
A bridal pony-tail doesn't have to look casual especially when accessorized it with the right hairpiece. This pony tail "with a twist" by Bethany Earl Makeup needed only a classic pearl accessory to create a sophisticated and stylish vibe. "Esther" pearl haircomb. Hair: Bethany Earl Makeup. Half Up Half Down
Can't decide between wearing your hair up or down for your wedding day? Then perhaps consider the half up half down style which can be styled many different ways including a twist, long curls or soft beach waves. We like to keep the hair accessories more delicate with this look especially when there is a twist or other details in the back like the style below. A few simple pins like our "Kaylan" pins are perfection. Hair by Hair and Makeup By Robin. Photo: Kristi Sneddon
